Okay, so I have to share this funny little lesson God taught me at Incredible Pizza Company a few days ago. I like to play this game where you try to get these superhero cards by dropping tokens down and eventually shove the cards through the hole, and then you can keep the card or turn them in and get 50 tickets for each card. I’m like a kid, I guess…because it’s fun to me. 🤔Maybe that’s why God speaks to me like I do to my own children. 😂
But, I digress…I played about eight rounds on this one machine that I have kind of claimed as “mine…go find your own.” 🤣 I won nothing but a few tokens which is so unusual for me because my husband and kids claim I’m the best out of us all at the game, but in order to keep from seeming too creepily addicted to this kid’s game, I finally walked away.🚶
Just before we left, Joe saw another one of the game machines. “Wow! This one is stacked full of coins on the edge!”
My face suction-cupped to the glass, like a kid to a toy store window at Christmas time. “Wow! Look at all the cards in that one too!” I added.
“You should try THIS one, Mama. You’re the Pro!”
I shook my head. “No, that’s not MY machine.”
“Just try it.” His upturned pouty lip gets me every time.
“Okay, but just this once.” I scanned the game and scratched my head searching the best time to drop the token. Then I chuckled. “Wouldn’t it be funny if I got all the cards at one time.”
Joe’s eyes widened. “Go for it, baby! You can do it!”
I dropped the token, and to my surprise, seven cards flipped out of the machine all at one time. I stood there in shock for a moment as Joe and the kids danced around in excitement. Joe shook me by the shoulders. “I can’t believe you just did that!”
I, still in shock, finally mustered the words, “What just happened?”
“You just won the kids 350 tickets, sweetie!” I smiled as the kids hugged me and danced around in glee, as if I’d won the Olympics. 😂
Yes, it was an exciting moment, but we all know God never does anything for no reason, right? What we see as luck or coincidence is actually God saying, “Yoo-hoo! I’m talking to you. Are you listening?” 👂
So, today, during my prayer time…after my bragging wore out of my system…after a couple of days 🤣, I finally heard God speaking about it. He reminded me of my determination to do things MY way on MY machine and my SMALL headway, but when I was FINALLY willing to step out of my routine, I got more than I even originally thought possible.
Moral of the story…our plans may be ambitious, but…”Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes. People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord.” (Proverbs 19:2â€-‬3 NLT)
However, “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:9 NLT)
So TODAY, step outside of your routine and be open to WHEREVER God leads, and just maybe He will surprise you with the outcome. 😊
And hmmm,🤔 isn’t it just a bit ironic that 7 cards flipped out of the machine? 😉
